The kids are absolutely fascinated by Giselle's Red Hair!
The children are absolutely fascinated by Giselle's red hair!  We wonder what might the new styles they would be sporting
on our next visits.
Yari and Teri checking out the lew.
Yari and Teri, checking out the "privey".  Sanitary inspection by the visiting Doctor, no doubt.
Robert & Gene checking out the fishing nets
Here's Robert and Gene checking out the fishing nets.  These are used by the locals to catch fish they then sell to the local
in-rio market, as well as to the Chiriqui Grande market, which is a major source of their income.
Made 10 Feb 2005, donation by North Americans
This sign indicates "made 10 February, 2005".  The other section indicates "Donation by tour North Americans".  This was
the second half of the cement walkway to the children's school, majority funding by the generous owner's of
"Free Spirit"
who toured with us in Jan '05.  The children were the ones behind these accolades in cement, as we were informed by the
school teachers.
The children wanted to show off their school
The children wanted to show off their school, as an appreciation for the gift of notebooks that allowed them to start school
the next day.  They all promised to study hard, and to learn English!
Gene showing the fin art of sling shots
Gene was demonstrating the fine art of sling shooting.  Out of nearly 10 attempts, he one had hit and 2 near misses.  The
count was made by one the boys, who passed the info along.
This young lad was 5 of 6 hits
The young lad in the dark shirt had obvious knowledge of the weapon, as he had 5 of 6 shots firmly on target, and the 6th
one was a glancing blow of the side.
Giselle's hair always a point of interest
Everywhere she went, Giselle's hair was THE object of the children's attention.  One young lad told me, "It isn't hot at all!"
Margarita and Yari discussing the complete walk-way
The completed walk way to the school.  Margarita was explaining to Yari, that this final half would allow the children to walk
to and from the school in rainy periods, without walking in mud.
The original sector of the walk way
This sector is the original walkway created more than 3 years ago.  The new sector is the culmination of a long wait!
Departing pueblo Mananti Abajo
Departing the pueblo of Mananti Abajo, the memories of these friendly loving people won't soon fade from memory.
Buzzards by the thousands
As we departed the Rios, literally thousands of buzzards were flying across the sky.  Sadly, too far for photos, were several
vertical spirals of birds as if inside a small tornado.  Examining the
Birds of Panama book, Gene discovered it is indeed a
natural phenomenon every year at this time, when 1,000s of the buzzards gather in Bocas and a couple other locales in
Panama for - yes, you guessed it, a mating ritual.  Now we know why there never seem to be buzzards making out along the
roads of Panama!
