PHOTOS FROM THOMAS TRIP UP RIOS
MANANTI AND GAURIVIARA 26 DEC '04
Cycad Site #2, photo #2. Plant didn't appear to be ready to cone, at least from my further out vantage point.
This was the small 3-family group up Rio Mananti
Johanna relaxing as we head up the Rio Mananti
This was the eagle we spotted. Am still uncertain what kind it is; or as Hans would say "They're all chickens to me!"
A fairly recent addition to the growing community of dwellings along the rio.
This was one of the day's more spectacular views, up the Rio Mananti.
Another of the small huts, with a few more in the rear. This is also the one Yari painted and was in John Villegas' office.
Even with the bow open, these craft remain in service for many years,
Another of the ubiquitous homes along the rio.
The lady of the house was clearly curious about us.
Family clearly happy - that the trip is nearing its end?
This is just to show you how we've changed the tour format by including a native cayuco ride into a really quiet, pristine
locale, with birds, sloths and perhaps a monkey or two and, plenty of crocodiles!
This portion is only via oars and gets the pax up close and personal with the jungle!
In case you
missed the Great
White Egret or the
Toucan.
