Lodging - Bocas
Without a doubt Punta Caracol has become THE location in Bocas.  We first visited Jose-Luis and his family's site in 1998 when they had their
first cabana in process.  They have grown considerably since then, offering only the highest quality service and facilities.  The experience of this
secluded resort is unmatched in Bocas.
www.puntacaracol.com.pa  Their office is conveniently located in the Bocas airport.
The newest Apt-Hotel is on Bocas' waterfront facing Isla Carenero offering very upscale accommodations.  Hans has created a outstanding
locale, which allows our tour to depart from his front door!
www.tropical-suites.com
Originally constructed in 1905 as an office building for the United Fruit Co., it was converted to a hotel in 1968.  More recently under Jose's
masterful guidance, the current Hotel Bahia exudes excellence and is filled with historical photos and artifacts of the past century.  A wealth of
historical knowledge and a THE driving force in Bocas tourism has garnered Don Jose Thomas acclaims from wide and far.  A stay at his hotel
and its medium priced rooms is nothing less than a truly unique experience.
www.hotelbahia.biz
Over the past 4 years, Claudio has been completely remodeling the original site and has created an exquisite and comfortable upscale petite
hotel fronting Sand Fly Bay on Bocas del Toro city's north, viewing both the open Caribbean and Cayo Carenero, where Columbus careened
his vessels to repair the Teredo Worm damage.  We can only say Claudio's personal attention during our stays have made his place feel like a
home away from home.  The included breakfast is far more than toast and coffee! Room prices medium range.

Scott Doggett of Lonely Planet fame penned that "...his favorite place to stay in Panama..." is Michel and Vicente's unique resort located on the
eastern-most tip of Bastimentos Isla.  "A magical place in complete harmony with Nature" aptly describes
Al Natural Resort.  We are
working with Michel to offer special day trips from their resort.
Our initial visits to Bocas in 1997 brought us to a neat little set of cabins over a coral reef, where snorkeling was great and the inside diving was
a unique experience.  Happy to report that effective 1 Dec 03, Jaime (who runs the very successful
Bocas Water Sports) had taken on the
management and is hard at work renovating and upgrading this unique locale.   Of course, with the water access, we can start our trips from
this hotel easily.  Rooms are medium priced and includes a Continental breakfast.
www.puntamanglar.com
When we don't require access to our boat at the hotel, centrally located Hotel Laguna is one of our favorites.  Well appointed neat rooms and
excellent service under Giuseppe's watchful eye, with capacity for singles to groups of 20 or more and most of the Bocas del Toro city within a
5 min walk (including the airport). The on-site restaurant serves breakfast to dinner and is often crowded by non-hotel visitors.  Room prices
medium range.
www.hotellaguna.net. Also at this hotel an excellent all day restaurant Da Claudio serves great medium priced meals.
Another hotel near the north end under Giuseppe's guiding hand is also worthy of consideration.  Posada Los Delfines. Medium priced rooms
and a good on-site restaurant, as well a nice spa.
www.posadalosdelfines.com
Located within the Bocas del Toro city a block north of the central park is the upscale Swan's Cay Hotel.  Full amenities, a complete restaurant
and a separate luxury pool on the northern tip of town make Enrico's elegantly designed hotel unique in the region. Higher priced rooms accord
the expected quality present.  A unique experience in any tropical setting.

Lodging - Chiriqui
Without a doubt, Hotel Panamonte remains the most elegant old-style hotel living anywhere.  Recently considerable re-modeling and new
furnishings, the ambiance is el primo!  Their new website is now operational and owner Inga Collins is still in charge!
Panamonte Inn & Spa
For a unique "old-World" experience, Eva's Isla Verde combines quiet elegance with novel structure designs and layouts within the heart of
downtown Boquete.  Viewed from the street, there is little hint of the marvelous restful atmosphere of unique plants and clean, spacious
accommodations.  A tour of her website provides a small glimpse into this unique retreat.

In David Hotel Nacional has set the standard for decades.  A good friend since we came in 1994, Paul has the master's touch in keeping the
entire full-service operation running smoothly, including 3 restaurants and full service bars, a super pool, a 6 salon cineplex, convention rooms
and center and David's largest Casino.  Rooms are medium to higher priced.

Other Activities - Bocas
Our venture is based in Bocas del Toro and for easy access from Almirante or Changuinola, Karl's water taxis with safety very evident is our
choice for getting there.  Lots of info on his site too.
www.bocasmarinetours.com
For the most complete listing of Activities, Hotels, etc in Panama - there is Nancy's 1,000+ page site that always comes up in the first couple
places in any Search Engine.  Her site is THE #1 for Panama!
www.panamainfo.com
The newest Extreme Sport in Bocas is Keith and Deborah's land-sea-air-adventures that feature a unique air-borne view of Bocas city area
from their "flying boat" craft, that both takes-off and lands on Bahia Almirante.  They also feature SCUBA, Snorkel and glass-bottom kayak
trips, water skiing and land ATV for exploring Isla Colon.
Another recent addition to Bocas, is the relaxing quiet solitude of Marcell's Catamaran Sailing Aventures featuring sailing, snorkeling and
sight-seeing at quite affordable prices.
Although we are active certified SCUBA enthusiasts, we don't offer SCUBA on our tours (except for Private Charters).  Two quite reputable
agencies are located in Bocas del Toro city that we have known for as long as we have been coming to Bocas.  For a Full Day series,
Bocas
Water Sports has some excellent locales.  They also feature a combo snorkel and SCUBA trip for mixed groups that desire both types of
activities.  For a more leisurely half day trip, Starfleet SCUBA has just the trip.
StarFleetSCUBA  is now under new management with Tony
Sanders, a recent arrival from the UK, who is upgrading an expanding services.  A new website is due out soon.  Contact Tony directly for
up-to-the minute info
scubastar@hotmail.com  A new offering Dive Certifications is Rob, son-in-law of Brian & Barbara of Blue Amazon
who brings a wealth of diving experiences from various tropical locales
The Dutch Pirate
For those who also ply the seas & come via their own water craft to the region, we highly recommend Bocas Marina as  the place to moor.
We keep ours here too.  Safe, secure & well appointed.
www.bocasmarina.com
Without a doubt, the most often accessed web site for anything in Bocas is the very well designed site of Angel.  You may even have found us
from the link to us from his site.  He covers most everything in Bocas.
www.bocas.com   A new site just coming on-line by Angel, features
info and activities in Chiriqui, Boquete, etc.
www.chiriqui.org  will surely be as effective as his bocas.com has been.
Other Activities - Chiriqui and Panama
A new venture on the Pacific side opened Jan '04 featuring single and multi-day excursions into the Marine Park, fishing and snorkeling trips out
of Boca Chica aboard a converted ex-USCG Cutter.  Equipped with all safety equipment required (USCG & PMA), plus PAX comfort and
enjoyment in mind.  The latest all electronic Comm,  NAV and Autopilot systems ensure safe travel.  Ron's many years in the tourism business
bring a higher level to PAX satisfaction.
www.explorationpanama.net  for  "Little Ship" views and info.
For another Extreme Venture, we can highly recommend Hector's wonderful Chiriqui River Rafting, having enjoyed both his trip and his
friendship for more than 9 years. Sea Kayaking is another of his specialties  Safety is 1st also with him.
www.panama-rafting.com
Robert retired from his Miami restaurant business and came to Boquete in 1996.  A few years of lying in the sun were too much, and he just
had to do something!  His Panama Big Game Fishing Club is now up to 3 excellent off-shore fishing craft and his all-inclusive package carries
the same quality he promoted in his previous business life.  Reserve well in advance!

Justin is another new arrival to Boquete, but from a number of years in Bocas, has some great day tours on both land and water into Pacific
side.  Well versed in history as well.
www.adventurepanama.com
Coffee Tours and Birdwatching are clearly Hans and Terry's forte'.  Friends since they arrived in 1996 and we showed them from top to
bottom, the cafe finca they now call home, they have created a marvelous set of tours in these two areas.  A must! for every visitor to Boquete
to share their passion for cafe (Hans) and some of Panama's 1200+ bird species (Terry). The Cafe Tour of
Coffee Adventures is conducted
on the Finca Kotowa, which is also the locale of the next activity below.
The newest near-extreme venture in Boquete is Ricardo's just inaugurated Boquete Tree Trek that has you flying within the upper elevation
jungle canopy in 11 segments covering more than 3 Km.  Gets you up and close for some of the best wild creature encounters - anywhere!
The oldest rafting venture in Panama features superb trips down the historic Chagres River and is the most often seen in adverts on Panama, as
well as other rivers in Cocle and Chiriqui provinces.  Now in their 10th year of operations, Javier and his team provide the highest quality
experience.

Featuring a wealth of info site links from their extensive page collection, www.panama1.com covers more diversity in the what, where and how

Of course, the first & last words on Panama's Tourism are best from the Official Panama sites for Tourism - IPAT and Visit Panama.
A recent contact we've made should be of interest to anyone traveling to or planning on locating to Panama (or any other Latin country) is to
learn Spanish!  This Interactive Spanish offered is something else!  Gwen is most helpful at the website of "The U.S. Institute of
Languages" and has lots of options for anyone. www.spanishprograms.com
An interesting site featuring Jet Boats is well worth the look, to view the breadth and depth of these craft, of which our Agulia is one such craft.
Hellen has a nice collection of many such craft in use for tourism.

A most unusual couple, Brain and Barbara, have some unique eco-tourism facilities and tours in various locales.  These up-scale tours are out on
the edge of the norm.  Strongly urge you to peruse their site at
BlueAmazon.com  Their son-in-law Rob has recently opened a new SCUBA
Dive Certification business in Bocas
The Dutch Pirate
A new acquaintance Chuck Smith has a rather unique website filled with goodies for the traveller and armchair tourist.  He links to many that we
also share links with, so we seem to be on the same plane these days.  Perusing
 www.go-latinamerica.com is worth your time.
Real Estate - Investments
Click here for New Real Estate page.
A strong word of caution!  Ensure you get reputable agents and legal advisors BEFORE you place any cash in anyone's hands!
Sadly, land scams abound in Bocas, as well as other locales.  INVESTIGATE!

In 1997, while dabbling in Ram water pumps, a neighbor of ours asked me to survey her coffee farm to see where she might be able to obtain
water for the upper levels.  A few years later she sold her well-attended farm, which has been turned into a magnificent replication of the US
Southwest in style, and is one the upper-scale living so many new arrivals are coming to.  Superb pictures on the sites really, but can't do justice
to this wonderful development envisioned so well by Sam.

To get a flavor of why so many of us Gringos are making Boquete our home, perusing this site will likely have you making travel plans before
you know it!

The newest Boquete locale for family living at an upper scale is just opening.  The full 18 hole Golf Course is surely one of Panama's finest!
Nestled on the SE slope of the Continental Divide range, the Pacific vistas are simply SPECTACULAR!  The night sky is a star gazer's delight,
with the Southern Cross one of the dominate constellations in the clear dry season.  Surely, you'll find Ray-Deep and Collen's well thought out
designs and amenities worthy of consideration for your little bit of Paradise or Paraiso.

Kelly and Lauri have established a firm position in Boquete as the premier real estate agency operating as would be expected in most parts of
the world.  Covering lands, homes, farms timeshares and re-sales of virtually all properties in the area.

A good source of additional links under the guiding hand of John, a recent Boquete arrival, leads you into another world of things to do and see
in and around Boquete. This site originally started about 4 years ago.
www.escapetoboquete.com   John has just opened a new venture with
an on-line Newsletter that covers much of the happenings in Boquete and Chiriqui.

Mainly serving the Volcan side of Panama's highest peak, Volcan Baru, Bill's extensive site covers many areas would-be expat residents have
questions about.  He offers a unique service working with serious newcomers to wade through the various paper mills.  His many years in
Panama bring a well-experienced approach to this too-often frustrating experience.
www.hemingwayhideaway.com  Bill is also an amateur
radio enthusiast, and our radio conversations over the years acquainted us long before meeting in person.
Bill is

Covering more of Panama's prospective retirement possibilities, Mario's www.movetopanama.com extensive site listing and help pages is a
must for those seeking info re this marvelous country's unique life and living styles.
PANAMA CITY LODGING  Although not our area of operation, most all travelers pass via this city.  Hotels are plentiful and range from
under $20 to more than $300 per night, to suit all budgets.  Several we have stayed at with reasonable rates & good accommodations include:
The
Executive Hotel with medium prices ($50-100) with excellent service, facilities and amenities on their site, many included!
The Hotel Via Espana with lower prices ($20-40) and full services and restaurant.  Presently, only
e-mail or tel +507-264-0800.
The
Hotel Riande Granada in central downtown has medium ($50-125), full service and amenities and disc for us Chiricanos.
My sister Michele's site features some excellent products: " Anciaux International Communication creates exceptional results in
business and education through excellence in information design, project management, and cross-cultural communication."
The massive influx of Expats arriving to Panama either seeking to invest or make Panama their new home has also brought a considerable influx
of "wpuld-be" Service providors.  Many are legitimate, albeit bordering on legality (foreigners cannot work in Panama, except within specific
exceptions); there are also still the bogus and scammers operating.  Caution cannot be over-emphasized!  A recent firm specializing in the
investment side
Panama Offshore Service is recommended in that area.  We also are willing to work with selected individuals in their quest to
find a peaceful place to live and play in Panama.
One of our dear friends Dave owns an up-scale Travel Agency in the UK, Reliant Travel and features a special Panama Package .His many
trips here has also brought him into ownership of one of Boquete's newest Inns, now in the final stages of refurbishing near century old
structures. Website for Yalti's Country Inn in the highlands of Boquete, Panama will be soon.
Agency Referrals  We have had only a few agencies that are interested in booking our tours.  That has been the primary reason we've
stayed with our website, as our product is both unique and requires some sales staff effort to understand our tours.  As more do become well
enough acquainted and take on the tour sales at their sites, we shall add them to this Link page.
One of our first agencies to qualify under Mark's excellent care is the European based
Krakow-Hotels with their full service coverage of

For a breathtaking view to the islands off the Pacific Coast of Chiriqui, Rodrigo and Priscilla's Villa Marita has views over Boquete pueblo
out to 100 miles at times!  Closer  in, there is the direct view of Boquete's own English Castle built by Tom Bot just the past two years.
We've known both families since we arrived in '94 and Rodrigo has been a mainstay in the tourism development of Boquete as well during this
time.
A recent request for Link Exchange comes from Kathleen at Villas to go  featuring some unique Mediterranean locales.  We are pleased to add
